Summary of the session
Since the early nineties, most companies have been using strategic performance management tools such as Balanced Scorecard.
They visually present a mix of financial and non-financial measures and compare them to a target value and give insight in how the company achieves its strategic goals.
IT has played a pivotal role in delivering corporate strategic management tools, yet it failed in developing and using similar technology to manage IT. An IT executive scorecard should bring together financial and non-financial metrics from the PM Office, application development and IT operations. It provides insight in how well IT is aligned with the business strategy.
Without good ‘business management’ of IT, taking complex decisions, such as which services should or should not be cloud sourced, are difficult and riskful.
