Publishing Code of Conduct
itSMF Belgium is an organisation by members for members and therefore encourages the initiatives and participation of its members. Publishing information that may be interesting for the whole itSMF community is certainly one of the major means to share information. Hereafter you'll find the rules we want writers to respect in order to stay in line with the itSMF vision and mission as well as to preserve itSMF from bad image or even legal implications.
- Responsibility : the writer is the only responsible for the published material. By submitting an article for publishing on the itSMF website, the writer becomes the only responsible person. The writer becomes the owner of the submitted information and can at any time ask the webmaster to remove his submitted document from the itSMF website. The itSMF Management team approval does not change anything to the writer's responsibility.
- Copyright : submitted material should be free from copyright infringement.
- Legal : submitted material should not contain elements that are against the Law or that could lead to legal pursuits of itSMF.
- Privacy : submitted material should not publish the identity of person(s) without prior written approval from the concerned person(s).
- Commercial : submitted material should be as objective as possible and fact-based and should not constitute a hidden publicity.
- Content : submitted material should closely relate to IT Service Management. itSMF should never be presented as endorsing the submitted material without up front written approval. Give your document a self-explanatory name / title and preferably a short introduction.
- Style : submitted material should be written in English (use US or UK spelling checker, including grammar). Business style is appropriate. Preference is given to Arial or Times Roman font size 10, 11 or 12 for the text part. Limit the file size to maintain reasonable loading times. In the same spirit, use low-resolution images (75 dpi, 256 colours). Avoid external hyperlink references, and if you cannot avoid it, use the uppermost levels because they tend to be more stable than detailed, deeply nested references.
- File Format : Microsoft Word (.doc), PowerPoint (.ppt), Excel (.xls), Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) are all acceptable files. Graphics files should be in Graphics Interchange Format (.gif) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpeg or .jpg) formats with definitions of 75 or 150 dpi maximum and 256 colors.
- Credit : all published material should be signed by the author or the responsible editor. The author is allowed to mention Name (mandatory), Title and E-mail address. No anonymous articles are allowed for publication unless they are itSMF documents, fully approved by the itSMF Management Team.
Publishing process:
- You verify your file with a suitable virus checker before submission.
- You send your file to the itSMF as an attachment of an e-mail to info@itsmf.be with "Publishing" as subject and any information in the body text of the message that provides information as to where you want the submission to be posted.
- itSMF will do a quick technical check on the submission. Eventual problems will be communicated back to the sender via e-mail.
- itSMF will post the submission in a non-public draft area during 48 hours for the itSMF Management Team approval. The sender will be put in copy of the notification mail.
- If no objections have been notified by the itSMF Management team, then the submission will be posted in the public area of the web site.
